WHY YOU ARE SUFFERING

There are many reasons why a believer might be going through hard times or suffering. Many a times people have considered that the only reason people go through suffering is because they did something wrong. However, that is not entirely true, there are a couple of reason why people go through suffering. Let us carefully look upon them as below.

1. THEIR OWN MISTAKES

At times people go through suffering because of their own mistakes. We have people in the Bible wh suffered because of their own mistakes. The children of Israel went round the wilderness longer than God expected them to because of their own disobedient.Samson died prematurely because he entangled himself with a woman even though he had been warned about it.This led the woman to betray him to the Philistines and Samson suffered a great deal.

2. OTHER PEOPLE MISTAKES.

Is it not sad that when someone is going through hardship, instead of people praying for him or her; they often turn and say perhaps that person did something wrong.

This is because Christianity has only been associated only with good but not suffering. No wonder when many Christians go through hard times they quit on God. To them He is only God in good time not bad times. However, it is important to ask yourself a few questions, why then did Christ suffer, why then did the Apostles suffer, why then did some of the great generals of God, go through hard times.Jesus speaking to his disciples urged them saying in John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Many of the times when evil things have befallen a Christian instead of them hodling onto faith they have lost faith and disqualified themselves. In other times people have taken them to be great sinners hence the suffering.

Let us look at a few people who went through this:

1.Paul

Acts 28:3-4

And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand. And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

When Paul was about to be beaten by the viper they said he is a sinner, when the viper went a way they said Paul was a Man of God.

2.Blind man

John 9:1-2

They saw the blind man and asked Jesus who sinned that the man was born blind.

People today are still asking who sinned. I don’t dispute the fact that sin has consequences, oh no am just saying it is not all about sin.

For how long as Christians will we point fingers at someone saying perhaps she is childless because she aborted, perhaps he doesn’t have a job because he isn’t aggressive enough, perhaps she is suffering because of a,b,c not knowing perhaps God has allowed it for a reason.

I can’t forget when someone called my sister and said I might need to visit the “praying prophets’’ so that they can see why am I not getting children”.At times we judge people harshly for things they have no control of. But child of God let me assure you suffering is part of Christian journey and God will not allow you to go through it forever.Do all you can humanly possible and let God be God. Sit relax soon they will look at you and say surely this is a woman of God or man of God.

What would have become of all the women I minister to if I never experienced loss? God has a reason for every pain He has allowed your way. Not that he couldn’t stop it ooh no He is God but he allowed it for a reason. Be reminded God is not the author of misfortune but when they come he turns it around .Romans 8:28 “and we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. ’It is all things even the unfair situation you went through.

Nothing you have gone through shall be wasted, don’t give up on God.

God told me to encourage you and let you know suffering is part of a Christian journey but it won’t be forever.
